Classes in the Front-End Developer Series (FE Series)
The Front-End Developer Series is offered twice a year, August through December and January through May. When you complete all classes in the series we will provide you with a certificate and add you to our List of FE Series Graduates.
Each class will be posted on Meetup approximately one month before class. Please make sure you use your primary email address in Meetup so you receive Meetup notices. Be sure to register immediately so you have a spot in class. You may apply for one scholarship per person per year.
Intro to HTML & CSS
Saturday, August 27
This first class is the most popular Girl Develop it class. It will teach you the basics of HTML and CSS. Take this class to decide if the Front-End Developer Series is right for you. If it is, then register for the Kick-Off and Website Publishing class.
Kick-Off and Website Publishing
Saturday morning, September 10
At this class you will learn more about the FE series and how you can take full advantage of what we offer. You will learn how to publish websites and we will help you set up hosting for your domain. As students in the FE Series, you will receive one year of free hosting.
Prerequisite: Intro to HTML/CSS or equivalent experience
Bring to class: Your resume and cover letter formatted in HTML
Intermediate HTML & CSS
Saturday and Sunday, September 24-25
Expand your HTML skills as well as learn layout CSS like positioning and floats. Dig into more advanced CSS techniques, CSS3 effects & making your site responsive. Sunday is an optional lab with the teacher so you can practice your new skills with the teacher and TAs to help you.
Fall in Love with Git

As soon as you start integrating yourself into the software development industry, you’ll likely begin to hear terms like version control, Git, repository, push, pull, commit, GitHub, etc. This class is an introduction to the world of version control, Git, and GitHub. We’ll start from the very beginning of these concepts and in our few short hours together, you’ll have made repos, branches, and more!
Advanced HTML & CSS
Saturday and Sunday, October 22-23
Learn about embedding & iframes, building forms & publishing your website. Get an overview of various frameworks and more in-depth lessons on Bootstrap & other great developer tools. Sunday is an optional lab with the teacher so you can practice your new skills with the teacher and TAs to help you.
